Leader of secondary school teachers’ union arrested

Raphaël Kouamé Kouamé, general secretary of secondary school teachers’ union CESCI (Coordination des Enseignants du Secondaire de Côte d’Ivoire) and a philosophy teacher at the Anyama high school, was arrested after raising teachers’ awareness of the call for strike action launched a month earlier. He was taken to the Abidjan police headquarters where he was questioned and then charged with disrupting public order.
